Jamie Powell Stein

In August of 2005, I got a call from a friend. It was 1 week before his wedding and his wedding planner had completely flaked. Knowing my background in events and parties, he asked me to step in as his day-of coordinator. Of course, I said “yes”! My first day as a wedding coordinator was fun and filled with adventures, including a melting and tilting wedding cake, which I successfully propped back up in time for the cake cutting and pictures. That was the beginning of Jamie’s Events & Weddings!
At an early age, my family hosted parties for holidays, school functions and special occasions. I tended “bar” in the early years with my older sister. (Note: our “bar” never had alcohol… our family preferred to eat our calories!) I graduated to baker, decorator and host in the later years. Every year, I learned what it meant to organize, plan and coordinate a party, but to also have fun and enjoy the process. Each event had a purpose, and I made it my goal to make each event reflect that intention.
Today, my event planning business ranges from small house parties to non-profit galas, simple bar/bat mitzvahs to grand weddings/events. Whatever the occasion, I take it upon myself to make it special and distinctive for the host and/or the honoree. Like a fingerprint, each event should be uniquely “you”. I’m there to help make that happen.
Jamie Powell Stein has an M.B.A. in Non-Profit Management and a Masters in Jewish Communal Studies from the American Jewish University. Prior to graduate school, Jamie received two bachelors’ degrees from UC Santa Barbara – in Sociology and Dramatic Studies.
